How to prune an apricot / plum fan

In this video, I tackle the formative pruning of a fan trained apricot tree. The approach to pruning any tree must begin with the growth and fruiting habits of the variety in question, so I discuss the characteristics of apricots and contrast them with plums, to which they are very closely related, and the peaches, to which they are only more distantly related. I then go through the process of pruning and tying in, laying branches down where possible to avoid vertical growth, which tends to be overly vigorous and less productive.
