When Prince went on his first tour in support of what Pepe willie calls the "I wanna be your lover album in 1979-1980 he was on a mission.

Prince wanted to be a bandleader. SO he got a crew consisting of Dez Dickerson, Gayle Chapman, Bobby Z, Matt Fink, and childhood best friend Andre Cymone. Soon Morris Day would join him as the tour archivist (camera man).

What follows in this THE EDIT is a crazy tale that Prince would later exclaim, "we gotta put this in a movie".

The drama of touring with Rick James followed by the sheer violence of a Rolling Stones audience in 1981. No one will ever say that Prince Rogers Nelson didn't earn it. Enjoy the Ryde.
