Firetech Connect AFAC Field Day

The Hub's FireTech Connect program aims to help accelerate the adoption of advanced technologies that can help build bushfire resilience in regional communities. We've leveraged in Noosa Council's unique assets to create a living lab for running technology trials in bushfire detection and prediction, aerial intelligence, and autonomous firefighting systems.

On Friday we hosted the AFAC Field Day - AFAC is the peak body for emergency services organisations in Australia. It was great opportunity to update our ES colleagues on the progress being made in the field trials we've been running over the last 18 months.

The new AI Lab facilities were put through their paces, hosting the command centre for our Fire Air Traffic Management trial, a 10 camera live production, remote control firefighting tank demo, augmented reality simulation table and event a robot dog.

Our Wonder Pod hosted presentations from partners like Rheinmetall, NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration, CSIRO's Data61, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services to mention just a few. Most pleasing was hearing about how the program has helped other LGA's and regions take on some of these solutions in their own resilience efforts.
