If there was one country that Popes of the past could count on to stick by the Catholic faith - it was the Republic of Ireland.
Today, not so much.
When Pope Francis arrives in Ireland there will be every kind of reaction - yes, there'll be enthusiastic crowds, but also some alternative events and vigils, and perhaps even shrugs of indifference.
