Use this product to increase the tooth of your paper , as a base for mica powders, and boost your color value when using paper that does not allow for multiple layers. This video is full of Artist Hacks, Tips and Tricks.

The written directions are slightly different than the video because I have made improvements in the recipe. The supplies remain the same.

Recipe
1 tsp Linseed oil
1 TBSP Mineral Oil (Baby Oil)
2 tsp Beeswax melted  (This is a change from the 1 TBSP)
1 Stick Oil Pastel

Directions
Step 1.
Chop up the oil pastel into very small chunks (Mince)

Step 2
Mix in the Mineral Oil and Linseed Oil into the Oil Pastel. Let it stand for at least an hour while mixing occasionally. You can't over mix. You can leave it longer than an hour. I have let it sit for a full day. It won't go bad. If it gets dry, just add a few extra drops of mineral oil. It should look like a liquid paste. Thinner than toothpaste, thicker than water.

Step 3
Heat up about an inch of water to a boil. Using the bottom of a tin can (I use a soda can), place the mix into the can and then the can into the water. It will float and create a double boiler. Do not heat the mix directly on a flame.  Put the heat down so the mix stays warm to slightly hot. Do not boil the mix. It should not be hot enough to burn you if spilled. This is a project for adults. Children need supervision.  Make sure you use adequate ventilation.  Do not cook the mix. Melt slowly and gently. Do not leave the pot alone while on the flame. It's no different than making candles. Use all the same precautions.

Step 4
Melt down enough beeswax to add 2 tsps to each can. You can remelt and reuse the beeswax. Don't throw out the can.

Step 5
Swish it around so it is completely mixed then pour into 1 oz tin pots. Don't lift or move the pot until it's hardened.

Step 6
Leave the pot to harden for at least a day. The pigment will get better and better with each day. It will be very waxy and translucent the first day. The final paste is translucent. It's a stain not a paint.

Tips and Tricks
1. (New)  Melt the wax first then add the melted wax to the pigment container. Mix together while the can is still in the warm water.
2. If you find your paste is too hard you can warm it in a bowl of hot water before you use it. Hard paste means you didn't add enough oil or you added too much wax.
3. If you find oil on top of your paste do not remove it. Just rub it back into the container. It won't hurt the paste.
4. If your paste does not dry 100% once on the paper or you put it on too thick dust lightly with pan pastel colorless blending powder. You can find that on Amazon. It should be less expensive than pan pastels.
5. If you find the pigment  separates away from the wax, the brand of pastel you used is at fault. I like to use  Mongyo Gallery. Paul Rubio brand was OK but not as pigmented as the Mongyo Gallery.
6. When creating black it will appear to have a waxy top. Decrease your wax slightly. Mix well. Black is very hard to make. It will also go on the paper as grey.
7. You can use water soluble oil pastel.
8. You can use soft pastel as long as you create a powder and use a muller. Use one stick per container. The powder will have more volume than the oil stick but when you add it to the mineral oil it will shrink down.
