The Avalon VT-737sp was introduced to the music industry in 1985 and has been a staple preamp in studios for decades. The Avalon hardware costs $3,595 on Sweetwater, but can an emulation sound just as good? Today, we look at the Avalon VT-737sp plugin by Universal Audio and put this to the test.
Preamps can add a particular character and warmth to the vocal which is very pleasant on the ears. Without running vocals or even acoustic instruments like guitars through preamps, the signal can be bland and need a lot to be done in the post. I am always searching for ways to streamline my process when it comes to recording and mixing and this plugin makes my workflow a lot smoother.
