A Sufi Qasida wrote by the Algerian saint, Shaykh Ahmad bin Mustafa al-Alawi ق

Shaykh Ahmad bin Mustafa al-Alawi was born in Mostaghanem, Algeria in 1869. He was educated by his father. From 1886 to 1894, he worked in Mostaghanem before travelling to Morocco. In Morocco, he swore allegiance to Shaykh Muhammad al-Buzidi, the successor of Moulay Arabi al-Darqawi ق, considered by many to be the Reviver of the Shadhili Order.

Shaykh Ahmad stayed in Morocco for 15 years till 1909, when Shaykh al-Buzidi passed away. He returned to his hometown and spread the Alawi Order that he created in 1914, after seeing Imam Ali عليه السلام in a dream, who ordered him to name his Order after him.

Shaykh al-Alawi's French physician, Dr. Marcel Carret, wrote of his first meeting with Shaykh al-Alawi "What immediately struck me was his resemblance to the face which is generally used to represent Christ."

He passed away in 1934 and was buried in his Zawiyya in Mostaghanem, Algeria. May Allah ﷻ have mercy on him and raise his rank.
