Hi, my name is Phyllis Currott.  I am a Wiccan Priestess, the founder of the Ara Tradition.

My favorite subject when I talk about Wicca is nature, nature as the embodiment of the Sacred.

For us, the natural world is our, it's our greatest spiritual teacher  because it is the Divine.  It is the gown the goddess puts on in order to be seen.  It's the dance that the god does in order to engage us.  It is replete with spiritual wisdom for us which Western culture has largely forgotten.

We come from a culture that is separated from nature, separated from the Sacred.  God is transcendent.  He is beyond.  He is in Heaven.  He created the Earth but he left, returned through his son Jesus and he left.  And God gave humanity dominion over the Earth.

In other words, we've been treating it like a combination warehouse and garbage dump for the last few thousand years and we've been abusing the Divine.

We have been blind and deaf, oblivious to the innate sacrality, the innate sacredness of the natural world in which we live, and as a result, we have become unnatural ourselves.

And by working in harmony with nature, by learning from it, by practicing rites and rituals in conjunction with the phases of the moon, especially for women, in conjunction with the phases of the sun, the relationship of the sun and the Earth, we bring ourselves into harmony.

We begin to see our own lives in the context of the rhythm of the cycle of life as it plays out around us in the natural world.

And by bringing ourselves into harmony with that natural rhythm, we begin to see that there is also a tremendous sacred wisdom that is revealed to us.

It tells us how to live in a practical way and it tells us how to live in a sacred way, in a spiritual way.

And the essence of being a Wise One, of being a Wiccan, or being a Witch, of practicing this spirituality, 'cuz it's a spiritual practice, is to see, to hear, to taste, to touch, to know, to commune, and to be at one with the Divine as it expresses itself in the natural world.
