This video explains how to Rig a Slider Crank Mechanism" in Blender. This rig is done with two armatures which are connected with Inverse Kinematics in short it is called IK. IK allows automatic control of a chain of bones with a target bone.

This rig uses two armatures one for Crank and other for Slider. The crank armature consists of two bones one is for Crank and other is for IK Target. The Slider Armature consists of three bones one is for Stretch action, one is for Piston and one more for Connecting rod. Here, Connecting Rod bone is applied with IK Constraint by setting Crank armature as target, this makes the connecting rod to follow the the crank target bone. Along with the connecting rod, Piston and Stretch bones also constrained with Inverse Kinematics controls, So, when crank is rotating connecting rod oscillates and Piston moves up and down with stretch bone stretching up and down.
