Fish hook clasps are usually used on stringing for single strand pearl necklaces. The most popular ones are filigree style. As you see, all of these have a round loop for the thread and french wire to go through. There are other styles like this fish hook which has a similar filigree style and a pearl on top, just a nice little accent. To open the fish hook, you just pinch the tongue to release it. There is a safety mechanism in case the tongue releases by accident which is great because you obviously don't want to worry about your necklace falling off. I'll just show the finished pearl stringing here with the pearls knotted one by one. There is this gold coil here—thats the french wire and it is used to hide the color of the thread. It's not part of the clasp but you can get french wire and other stringing supplies separately.
