California Penal Code 166 PC defines the crime of contempt of court. This crime is committed by being excessively loud or belligerent, refusing to cooperate as a witness, or disobeying a court order. Penal Code 166 PC makes contempt of court a misdemeanor, and penalties include up to 6 months jail.
