Rainforest Cafe has restaurants in 13 states and six countries, including Canada, France, Japan, and the United Arab Emirates. Some of the locations are inside or near popular tourist destinations, such as Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Niagara Falls, and the Eiffel Tower. Each location has its own unique design and features, such as a giant mushroom bar, a starry night sky, or a volcano dessert. The founder of Rainforest Cafe, Steven Schussler, turned his home outside Minneapolis into a prototype for the restaurant, complete with live animals, waterfalls, and a greenhouse. He lived in his artificial rainforest for months, until he found an investor to help him open the first location in the Mall of America in 1994. Rainforest Cafe is the only restaurant in the world that has had a location at every Walt Disney World property in the world. It is a true, vintage experience.
