Reliability and Validity are essential to make decisions about whether to implement study findings into practice.

If any study lacks reliability and validity, then the study is not accepted and can not be used for solving a problem.
Reliability relates to the consistency of a measure.
Validity is about the accuracy of a measure.
Types of Reliability: 1. Homogeneity (or internal consistency), 2. Stability, 3. Equivalence.
Types of Validity: 1. Content validity, 2. Construct validity, 3. Criterion validity.

Homogeneity or internal consistency can be tested by Cronbach’s α.
Stability can be tested by test-retest.
Equivalence can be tested by inter-rater.

Content Validity focuses on whether the instrument adequately covers all the content/aspects that it should with respect to the variable.
Construct Validity indicates whether you can draw conclusions about test scores related to the concept being studied.
Criterion Validity focuses on whether the test scores represent the symptoms.
