This video will show you how to check the transmission fluid level according to Honda Odyssey Manual.

Please note that each manufacturer have different way of checking the ATF level. For the Honda Odyssey, they require the engine at operating temperature and turned off but for my Toyota Corolla, it requires that the engine is running at idle in operating temperature.

If the video is not clear, then below is the actual text from the Honda Odyssey Manual.

Check the fluid level with the engine at normal operating temperature.

1. Park the vehicle on level ground. Start the engine and let it run until the radiator fan comes on, then shut off the engine. For accurate results, wait for 60 seconds before going to step 2, but don't wait longer than 90 seconds.

2. Remove the dipstick (Yellow loop) from teh transmission, and wipe it with a clean cloth.

3. Insert the dipstick all the way into the transmission securely.

4. Remove the dipstick, and check the fluid level. It should be between the upper and lower marks.

5. If the level is below the lower mark, remove the fill plug, then add the fluid into the fill hole to bring it to the level between the upper and lower marks on the dipstick.

Note: Always use Honda ATF-Z1 (now ATF-DW1). If it is not available, you may use a DEXRON III ATF as temporary replacement but make sure to replace it with original Honda ATF as soon as it is convinient.
