This simple DIY concrete table
This simple DIY concrete table top is just one example of how you can easily make your own concrete table. Create your own table top with these basic steps shown in this video tutorial. You can change things like the colors, the size, and even the shape to make it fit your vision, your space and your needs. The things you learn in this how-to video will be transferable to your own table top design and even other concrete projects.
To make this bolt-on concrete table top, a simple wood mold made from some scrap pieces of 2x3" and plywood was used to form the top, and four strips high-density foam wrapped in tuck tape were used to make smooth table edges. High-density foam was secured in the center of the mold to make a recess and to embed the bolts within the concrete for connecting the top to a base. Some steel reinforcement was also added for increased tensile strength.
It is made from a concrete mortar mix of 3:1 (sand to portland cement) using both white sand and brown masonry sand along with white portland cement powder. Some of the mortar mix with just white sand and white cement was set aside while the rest of the mix had the brown masonry sand added giving that portion of the mix a tan color. Some concrete acrylic fortifier was also added to the mixes for added benefits.
The end result is a very simple, attractive, and useful table top that can be used indoor or outdoors and can be attached to pretty much any base, especially if you make that yourself, too. With very few materials, a little know-how and creativity, you can make a world of awesome and useful things, just like this table top.
