Panjiri is a Punjabi Dish consumed mainly in Punjab especially prepared for new mothers. It is made from whole-wheat flour fried in sugar and ghee, heavily laced with dried fruits and herbal gums. It is usually eaten after giving birth, to promote healing and lactation, or in the winters to ward off cold. Its use is quite ritualistic and meaningful.
