Wrestling Bios Presents - Hulk Hogan and The Birth of Hulkamania
As we continue looking at the storied career of Hulk Hogan, today's video takes a look at Hulk Hogan's WWF return in 1983. With Vince McMahon now in charge of the World Wrestling Federation, Hogan made the jump back to the WWF after gaining a huge deal of popularity in Verne Gagne's AWA. Within a matter of weeks, Vince McMahon made Hulk Hogan the number 1 superstar within the WWF, capturing the WWF Championship from The Iron Shiek in January of 1984 and beginning the era of Hulkamania.
With the WWF getting great crossover promotion thanks to the Rock n' Wrestling connection, Vince McMahon decided to compete with the NWA's Starrcade event by putting on WrestleMania, a supershow held in 1985 that blended pro wrestling with celebrities and the world of entertainment. Hulk Hogan would be instrumental in the success of WrestleMania 1, and the show only helped Hogan into the next level of superstardom. After just over a year with the WWF, Hulk Hogan became a megastar and Hulkamania was indeed running wild.
