Tahiti Pearls, the most dreamed-about
Tahiti Pearls, the most dreamed-about souvenir to bring home with you from your Tahitian Vacation. This week I am joined by the leading name in the pearl industry internationally and in French Polynesia - Robert Wan. The Tahitian Pearl has always been the sought-after souvenir from French Polynesia and Robert Wan has a long and impressive history of bringing the pearl to the forefront of French Polynesia. Robert Wan and the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) worked together to bring the Tahitian cultured pearl to earn the status as a gem, in the same category as a precious stone.
On this week’s Tahitian Moment Live Carl is joined by Richard Wan to learn more about Robert Wan's story and passion. Discover how Tahitian pearls are grafted and the process of harvesting a pearl and bringing it to the beautiful jewellery and souvenirs you see in the stores. Learn what to look for in the quality of the pearl you are for shopping for – the size, luster, shape, and color.
There are many Robert Wan boutiques internationally but we will look at the Robert Wan Pearl Museum in Papeete, and touch on some of the other opportunities to shop across the islands at various resorts as well as the Robert Wan boutique in Bora Bora.
