In this episode of the Good Timekeeping Show I review the Casio G-Shock GW-B5600BC-1JF. The second half of this video is an in-depth look at the G-Shock Connected app which allows users to connect this watch (and others) to a smart phone or tablet using Bluetooth. The set-up and functions of this GW-B5600 are the same as with other variations of this model AND the same as with the various versions of the GMWB5000 watch from Casio. So, no matter which of these watches you buy, you can follow my guide in order to use your watch. As long as it's a Casio watch with Module 3459 or Module 3461, this video is relevant to that watch.

The G-Shock Connected app is used to connect more than ten other models of G-Shock watches to smart phones and tablets, although the exact functions and features will differ depending on the watch. But if you use the app in its "Demo Mode" you can get a pretty good idea of how those other watches work. If you're interested in any other Casio watch which uses an app to connect to a smart device, I highly recommend a virtual "test drive" of that watch using that app's demo mode.

I neglected to demonstrate the "phone finder" function of this watch. Also, I should admit that when I showed a watch with a round "screw back" in this video it was not one of the bluetooth watches but was, in fact, the back of a GW-5000 watch I already had. It looks ALMOST the same but I knew that some sharp-eyed viewers would spot the substitution.

UPDATE: The day after I uploaded this video, Casio announced that they will soon release a new variation, the GMW-B5000TB. They say it is "the first watch in the square-shaped 5000 series to use titanium for its main exterior components," including the case, band, bezel, case back, and button. Also from this announcement: "Diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating is applied to the metal components for superior wear resistance. The glass is made from scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, to which a non-reflective coating is applied, and the display uses an STN-LCD that offers superior viewing angles for enhanced readability, making it easier to tell the time."

Keep in mind that it will use the same module as other, previous models so the set-up and use would still be exactly the same as what I show you on the watch in this video. Also, keep in mind that this upcoming Titanium watch will be one of those very expensive models I refer to in this video.
