This is the single best deal in my collection!  A 1956 Conn 10A  Coprion (Copper bell) Cornet.

Cornet?  Yep!  While it's shaped like a trumpet it is a cornet and IMO one of the most versatile horns in my collection!

This horn has a small bore size of .438, but it feels really open to play. The wide wrap helps to open up the feel of the horn. Even with a 3C mouthpiece the sound is thick, rich, and warm but still has a spark to it. It's that classic "Blue Note" sound reminiscent of Blue Mitchell, Lee Morgan, or early Freddie. Guys like Thad Jones played one of these in the Count Basie Band... it's an awesome cornet!

Here's what Conn said in their own product manual:

What Conn said in 1956:
A brand new cornet, with the lines of a trumpet and acoustical qualities comparable to the 28A. Beautiful cornet tone, accurate scale throughout. Features amazing seamless Coprion bell; Clickless Crysteel valves with famous bottom spring design; acoustically correct mouthpipe; modern valve tips and top and bottom caps. Nickel silver finger hook, third valve ring and water keys. Length 21 3/8", weight 2 lbs. 10 oz., bell diameter 5 1/8".

Highly polished brass, beautiful nickel trim, with Coprion bell, clear lacquer overall.
