In this video, Philips Dynalite System Expert, Noemi Valero, discusses:
- What is DALI-2 and how it differs from DALI.
- Philips Dynalite DALI-2 certified controllers.
- How to know whether a product is DALI-2 certified.
- What is DT8 and how does it compare to DT6?
- How to implement DT8 tuneable white on site with Philips Dynalite products.
- How to implement DT8 colour control on site with Philips Dynalite products.

DALI vs DALI-2 Highlights:
- DALI stands for "Digital Addressable Lighting Interface."
- The DALI Alliance defines it as a protocol for bi-directional, digital communication between lighting-control devices.
- It was created to replace the-10V standard and has resulted in faster installation, more flexibility and scalability, and greater control.
- DALI-2 has more detailed and comprehensive testing requirements.
- It is not limited to control gear. Instead, it includes all devices within the system including application controllers, input devices (e.g. sensors), as well as bus power supplies.
- DALI-2 has a strong focus on product interoperability from different vendors and is also backwards compatible with DALI-1 products.
- DALI-2 includes specifications for additional features such as tuneable white and colour control.

Philips Dynalite DALI-2 certified products:
- DDBC120-DALI is a single-master DALI Driver Controller. It allows for direct mapping from DALI to the DyNet, eliminating the DALI imposed limits. Driver standby power elimination through integrated relay(s).
- DDBC320-DALI is a 3-universe Single-master DALI Driver Controller. Key features include: Independent universe enumeration and an inbuilt Ethernet port.

What is DT8 overview:
- DALI, is published in multiple Parts. E.g.: Part 201: Fluorescent lamps, part 207: LED modules, and part 209: RGB/Tuneable white control.
- DT stands for Device type and is only used for Parts related to control gear (Parts 2xx).
- Part 209 of the DALI specification is also known as DT8, i.e. the specification for colour control gear. This includes tuneable white.

In the video, Noemi gives detailed demonstrations comparing the installation of a DT8 system and a DT6 system, to illustrate the benefits of DT8 which include faster installation, lower cost, and more control over the colour output. These demonstrations take place in System Builder.
