Machine Learning Methods in DNA and RNA Sequencing Technologies

Oxford Nanopore has developed a new generation of molecular sensing technology that can analyse DNA and RNA, and has the potential to be adapted for other types of molecule such as proteins. Machine learning techniques have been integral to the development and improvement of Nanopore sequencing—increasing the accuracy, speed and range of features in many of its core applications. Dr Mike Vella, Director of Machine Learning Operations at Oxford Nanopore Technologies, discusses how machine learning is being applied to power the sequencing technology of the future.
