If your ex is being stubborn, it can be difficult to make any progress in getting back together with them.
However, before you brush your ex of as hard headed, it's important to understand that stubbornness is coming from an emotional place.
Your ex isn't emotionally ready to get back together with you if they are stubborn. Or, if you're not even asking to get back together, then your ex is not in an emotional place where they are ready to talk to you, text you, or meet up with you.
And, no matter what is going on, your ex needs you to meet them where they are at emotionally.
Until you do this, your ex will continue to show stubbornness and they will continue to resist your attempts to talk to them, meet up with them, or get back together with them.
You have to develop a sense of empathy toward them and meet them where they are at emotionally, letting them know that you understand them and can relate to what they are going through before they will ever open up.
When someone else, such as your ex, "gets" that you see and hear them, their guard will lower and they will start to open up to emotional connection with you.
Remember that stubbornness is simply a sign that your ex has not had interactions with you that are positive enough with you that they really inspire them to want to deepen your relationship with one another.
So, if your ex is stubborn, then you simply need to show them more empathy and having higher quality emotional interactions that bring the two of you closer and closer together.
What is your ex feeling right now?
If you can start to understand their current emotional world, then they will start to see you as on the same side as they are. Once this happens, they’ll stop resisting you so much because they’ll know that you have their best interests at heart.
From here, you can strengthen that trust.
As this happens, your ex will begin to bond with you in a much stronger way. This can continue until they get so many positive feelings between the two of you that they actually want to get back together with you again after a point.
