REPAIRING A LASER PRINTER. DOCUMENTS WITH STAINS
Sometimes a laser printer starts printing smudged documents, and does so at regular, even distances. It is possible to think about some rotating mechanism and, indeed, it is a rotating mechanism: The image drum, whose surface must be clean and smooth like a mirror.
With time and use, toner or dirt build-up occurs and this failure occurs.
The solution, carefully clean the drum, with cotton swabs and isopropyl alcohol. Under no circumstances should scratch the drum to remove the dirt: It would be unusable and should be replaced. If the failure consists not in dirt but in a scratch or physical defect, it should also be replaced.
