Viewers will see your thumbnail, read the title, and then decide to click on and watch your video or not. If you create good thumbnails for your YouTube videos you can double or triple your views by improving your click through rate (CTR).

We normally use 5 words or less on our YouTube thumbnails. If you use too much text it will be hard to read. Also, use bold text to make your thumbnail easy to read especially on mobile phones.
For your image, we recommend adding saturation and contrast to make the image stand out especially when viewed on a small screen.
