Systema Bank Raid handheld video game - no power, no sound. Can I fix it? #asmr

Can I fix this Systema Bank Raid video game from 1991? Full tear down and clean of this vintage handheld and, hopefully, a working game at the end of it. This game was purchased from eBay and described as 'not working'. When I received it, it would not power on and there were no signs of life so, an accurate eBay description! Opening the battery compartment revealed the likely reason for this - one of the battery terminals was missing. In fact, a small piece of terminal dropped out of the envelope when I was opening the package. I completely disassembled the game and cleaned/inspected each component. I then reassembled it and made a new battery terminal out of some nickel strip which is usually used to connect rechargeable batteries together. I found a photo online of what the missing terminal should look like so was able to use this to fashion my replacement. The unit was then tested and although it now worked, there was no sound. I spent a considerable amount of time trouble-shooting this issue and eventually discovered that there was actually nothing wrong with the game. Turns out that the process to turn the sound on/off is just a little quirky! No talking, no music, a bit of retro beeping and occasional ASMR. Enjoy! #repairs #handheldgames #retrogaming #asmrsounds
