Since Sir Keir Starmer became Prime Minister, a record number of migrants have crossed the Channel in a single day, the Home Office has revealed.
Home Office figures show that 427 people made the journey in seven boats on Monday, bringing this year’s provisional total to 14,759.
Over 1,000 migrants have arrived in the UK since Labour's election victory less than two weeks ago.
So far, the 2024 total is 12% higher than the 13,200 recorded by this time last year and up 1% from 2022's 14,554.
Last year saw 29,437 migrants arriving in the UK, a 36% drop from the record 45,774 in 2022.
