IMPORTANT: RISKS OF SURGERY
Every surgical procedure involves a certain amount of risk and in rare cases may not produce satisfactory results. Surgical outcomes can vary due to certain type of surgical methods and whether proper after-care treatments were received. Patient’s post-op medical condition, nutrition, and sensitivity to drug, and other complications are also an influential factor linking to poor post-surgical outcomes. Serious complications of cosmetic procedures are extremely rare, it is important that you should understand the consequences of the surgery/treatment, risks and potential complications. Complications may involve infection, hemorrhage, allergic reactions, and blood clots during and after surgery. Both benefits and risks of the procedures will be presented to you and its surgical methods to make the best possible informed decision about your cosmetic surgery. Patients considering cosmetic surgery should be aware of the following possible complications after surgery:
1. Asymmetric Appearance
2. Visible Scarring
3. Skin Necrosis
4. Unsatisfactory Result – There is the possibility of an unsatisfactory result from these procedures. It may result in unacceptable visible deformities, skin slough, loss of function, and permanent color changes in the skin. You may be disappointed with the final result from the procedure.
5. Other complications may occur other than the above such as serious medical complications, impaired function, disability, and even loss of life.
Rhinoplasty surgery risks include:
- Anesthesia risks
- Infection
- Poor wound healing or scarring
- Change in skin sensation (numbness or pain)
- Nasal septal perforation (a hole in the nasal septum) is rare. Additional surgical treatment may be necessary to repair the septum but it may be impossible to correct this complication
- Difficulty breathing
- Unsatisfactory nasal appearance
Skin discoloration and swelling
Possibility of revisional surgery
