Toyota has catered to enthusiast demand by introducing a six-speed manual transmission option for the 2023 GR Supra, available on all six-cylinder models. The manual option is exclusive to higher trim levels, with the Supra 3.0 and 3.0 Premium models offering it for free, while the limited edition A91 MT Edition is available exclusively with a manual transmission. Manual models get improvements such as traction control and braking settings to match their nature, as well as new vehicle stability control programming.

The 2023 Supra lineup comes with two engines from BMW: a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six. The base four-cylinder engine produces 255 horsepower, while the six-cylinder models keep the same output as last year, with 382 horsepower and 368 lb-ft of torque. A manual transmission adds an extra level of engagement, but slightly increases the 0-60 time to 4.2 seconds.

The Supra's suspension has been redesigned for the new model year, promising increased comfort and superior roll balance. The car exhibits a noticeable body lean when cornering, emphasizing its Grand Tourer nature rather than track-oriented performance. Additional features include the new Hairpin+ function for improved wheel spin and hill climbing, and power steering adjustment.

In terms of aesthetics, the 2023 Supra features a new Stratosphere Blue paint option and offers 19-inch forged aluminum wheels on models with a manual transmission. The interior includes heated leather seats as standard, while 3.0 Premium models get black and red upholstery, a head-up display, 12-speaker JBL sound and wireless charging. The special A91-MT Edition features exclusive colors, red Supra badging, red brake calipers and a unique forest-colored leather interior.

Pricing for the 2023 Supra starts at $43,540 for the four-cylinder model, while the 3.0 six-cylinder engine, available with both manual and automatic transmissions, costs $52,500. The 3.0 Premium model is priced at $55,650, while the limited-edition A91-MT Edition tops the range at $58,345. Overall, the manual transmission option adds a new dimension to the Supra's driving experience, but it has a slightly slower acceleration time.
