The first analog G-Shock I ever bought was a model AWG-M100. I liked it a lot. In fact, I ended up buying more than a dozen of them in different colors (and I still have my eye on another one). It's a great watch and the only legitimate complaint I can think of is that the backlight isn't fantastic. Everything else is, in a word, fantastic.

I've decided that, generally, I prefer a normal "positive" LCD readout on my watches instead of the negative or "reverse" LCD which is very common among Casio's offerings. But that hasn't stopped me from buying several versions of the AWG-M100 with negative LCD windows on the faces. After buying a mostly dark version of the watch which has negative LCD windows, I found a version which is very similar in its color scheme but uses positive LCDs. So I've been thinking about this model for a long time. The price was slightly higher than the price of an average AWG-M100, but I finally decided that the time was right to pay that price. And I'm glad I did.

This AWG-M100SBB model not only has a mostly black color scheme around the face and bezel, but it also has black buttons (or pushers) on the sides and something else I didn't expect. The buckle on the watch band is also black and, apparently, made of metal. The whole watch turned out to be a very familiar and unique addition to my analog G-Shock collection.

This watch has the features and functions I enjoy the most in my G-Shock collection. It uses module 5230, which operates the same way as the larger module 5444. So, in addition to the shock resistance and 200-meter (20 Bar) water resistance you come to expect from any current G-Shock, you'll get "Tough Solar" to effortlessly charge the power supply. You get Multiband 6 to effortlessly keep this watch synchronized to "Atomic Time", right down to the second. The watch also has a World Time mode, five daily alarms, an hourly "chime", a one-hour stopwatch and a countdown timer which can be set to any duration from just one second up to 100 minutes.

I ordered this particular watch through an eBay seller and, here in mid-2022, it cost me just about $180 with shipping from Japan to the USA.
