With the 2024 NBA season coming to a close, we can firmly say that Victor Wembanyama, the first overall pick by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2023 NBA Draft, is living up to the hype as. With the height matched by only a handful of players in league history and the ability to move and shoot like a swingman, Wemby’s all-around talent and package is unprecedented, but also indicative of the future of the NBA’s position-less game.

Nike saw the potential in Wemby immediately, signing the 7’4″ center to a contract before the season even started. Throughout his first campaign, the Frenchman has been sporting the Zoom GT Hustle 2 as well as the GT Run, the former being the successor to the latter.

First revealed during the 2024 All-Star Weekend, Wemby’s Nike Zoom GT Hustle 2 “Alien” indeed end up hitting retail. It sports an out-of-this-world detailing with a black/green mudguard pattern mimicking deep space, glow-in-the-dark outsoles,  and “Be Unique Every Day” printed in elegant cursive below the foot-bed. Metallic chrome appears via the Swoosh logo and the Alien-shaped plaques at the heel to represent the unanimous Rookie Of the Year

Après ses premier pas en NBA, le swoosh honore déjà le phénomène Victor Wembanyama avec la Nike GT Hustle 2 Alien.

Au cours du mois d’octobre 2023, Victor Wembanyama, aussi surnommé Wemby, a joué son premier match avec les Spurs. Bien que son intégration en NBA soit récente, il fait déjà l’unanimité à San Antonio. Au-delà de sa technicité, son physique hors norme lui a valu le surnom d’alien. En effet, difficile de ne pas remarquer ses 2,24 m et sa pointure 56. C’est pourquoi, Nike souhaite s’inspirer de ce nickname et collabore avec le jeune français sur l’un de ses modèles b-ball.

Révélé lors du All-Star Weekend, ce design à l’image d’un extraterrestre adopte de captivantes couleurs réunissant du noir et du vert. Devant la tige, on retrouve un swoosh chromé et des motifs cosmiques, dégageant une atmosphère futuriste. Les semelles, quant à elles, optent pour un look glow in the dark et s’accompagnent d’une mention « Be Unique Every Day ». En raison de la taille du prodige, le visage d’un alien est visible sur le talon et l’insole.
