In 1949, Stalin actually "gave" East Turkestan to Mao Tse Tung. As well as Manchuria, the Chinese Railway, Port Arthur with the Liaodong Peninsula, the factories and mines of these regions.
Not only these territories were erased from the history of the USSR, but also the traditions of managing these territories - the army units of the Red Army. Which were not needed by the Communist Party and were crossed out and destroyed.
Cut down at the root.
On August 25, 1949, the leadership of the Republic of East Turkestan, headed by its President Akhmetzhan Kasimi, flew from Kuldzhi to Beijing. The flight was supposed to pass through Alma-Ata, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk and Chita-to a meeting of the People's Political Consultative Council of China.
The flight route shows well how communications with the Chinese provinces were carried out in those days.
On August 27, it was announced that the Il-12 plane with the government on board had crashed. They still cannot name the exact place of the plane crash, some sources indicate that the disaster occurred in the vicinity of Alma-Ata, in others-from Irkutsk to Chita, somewhere on the eastern shore of Lake Baikal. + / - 800 kilometers.
The unofficial version is that the VTR delegation was arrested by the Soviet state security agencies already in ALMAAT, all the delegates were killed, and the plane crash was staged posthumously. There is no documentary confirmation of the version, except for the testimony of the head of the sabotage work of the NKVD at that time, Pavel Sudoplatov (1907-1996). But what in his memoirs (originally published in English) was written by himself and voluntarily, and what on his behalf — raises many questions.
The remains of the victims were handed over to the representatives of the VTR, they were buried in the Kuldzhi city Park. 12 years later, the body of one of them, Dalelkhan Sugurbayev, was reburied in Alma-Ata.
