ASICS METASPEED SKY VS EDGE

The Asics Metaspeed Sky and Metaspeed Edge are certainly two of the fastest race day shoes that the company has released. Designed for different types of runners, the Asics Metaspeed Sky focuses on stride style runner and the Asics Metaspeed Edge focuses on cadence style runners. Stride style runners maintain a similar cadence whether running slow or fast and rather increase their stride length to go faster. A cadence style runner not only increases their stride length but ALSO greatly increases their cadence to go faster. Personally, I'm a cadence style runner and I would prefer to race in the Metaspeed Edge.

Asics Metaspeed Sky- A very diverse shoe. I found the Sky felt great and comfortable at all paces and all distances, maybe only slightly lacking for that extra "snap" for a race day shoe. Although, according to Asics, the Metaspeed Edge should suit me better. I went true to size but I feel like most should go up half a size.

Asics Metaspeed Edge- **This shoe fits VERY short! The Edge fit me so short, I feel like I probably could have gone up a full size. Other than the length issue, I love this shoe! Not an easy day shoe, the Edge is all about going fast. I think for most, this is going to be best used for half marathon and shorter. Maybe in the future Asics will make a version of the Edge with a higher stack while maintaining a high heel-toe drop. Even though the Edge feels more like a traditional racing flat than a "super shoe", I loved everything about it and would have no hesitation putting it head to head against my Nike Vaporfly.
