Santa Barbara Castle (Castillo de
Santa Barbara Castle (Castillo de Santa Barbara). This huge fortress is really worth visiting. This is perhaps one of the most interesting fortresses I have visited. It is located on the top of the Benacantil Mountain in the centre of Alicante. From here you will see very beautiful views of the sea, the port and the city of Alicante.
On December 4, 1248, on the day of St. Barbara (according to the church calendar), the fortress and the city were recaptured from the Moors, in honor of this event it received its name - Santa Bárbara Castle (Castillo de Santa Barbara).
