Although you may know us as a manufacturer of horizontal boring mills, we also make milling machines - only there is no boring headstock, but a milling headstock instead. This headstock, with an integrated C-axis, is the most advanced headstockwe produce. As you can see, the milling headstock has no boring spindle, only a rotary drive shaft that connects the milling head to the drive. Therefore a milling head is a must. The main headstock drive is placed inside the ram and offers two options. The first is a conventional one, a spindle motor + planetary gear-box. The second is a modern, more dynamic solution, a water-cooled spindle motor with high torque, but without a gear-box. Compared to a boring headstock, the milling headstock has no boring spindle and no W-axis. On the other hand, it has higher max. rpms and also a longer ram stroke. In the front of the headstock, there is the previously-mentioned, integrated C-axis. It is positioned by two servo motors with pinions, and this whole system is hidden inside the ram. This increases rigidity and accuracy, since the center of gravity of the head is moved backwards. Thanks to the servo motors, the positioning is fast and precise and the C-axis may be positioned into any angle with the accuracy of 0.001 of a degree. If you often use a milling head and produce rather complicated workpieces with a frequent need to change head position, this is the right headstock for you. And as usual, we have a cheaper alternative for a less demanding production - a milling headstock without integrated C-axis, where both axes of the head are outside of the ram. Here, both head axes are positioned by the motor of the headstock and need to be positioned one at a time. This headstock is compatible with less advanced heads, therefore max. head speed is limited to 4000 rpm and continuous positioning of both axes is not an option here, This system doesn't make positioning of an automatic head any less accurate, only a bit slower.
