Marais is a historical district and quarter of Paris on the right bank of the Seine, east of Beaubourg. Situated between Place de la République and Place de la Bastille, Marais belongs to both the 3rd and 4th municipal arrondissements of Paris. The boundaries of the quarter are defined by three boulevards and the Seine River: in the north - Boulevard du Temple, in the west - Sevastopol Boulevard, in the east - Beaumarchais Boulevard, and in the south - Seine.
In the Marais quarter you will feel like a theater actor playing a role in another play. Walk along cobbled roads, visit an antique shop, drink coffee in the house of the legendary alchemist Nicholas Flamel and become part of a story that has been going on for hundreds of years.
The Marais quarter is for those who want to see the Paris that Parisians themselves love. They come here on weekends to wander the narrow streets, gaze at old mansions, buy something in fashionable boutiques, eat falafel next to the synagogue or have a glass in a stylish gay bar.
