The series is titled Heeramandi, and the series has made quite a buzz given its size and story. The story is set in the pre-independence time and will deal with the love and betrayal of the courtesans of Heeramandi of pre-independence times, which is present-day in Lahore, Pakistan.
It will mark Bhansali’s debut web series, he serves as the showrunner in the series, which consisted of 8 episodes, Bhansali along with the show run will direct two episodes reportedly the first and the last one.
The other thing the series is making the headlines is because of its huge casting, though most names are still under wraps it is being said that Bhansali will cast around 18 female leads in the series.
Some of the rumored names are Madhuri Dixit Nene, Juhi Chawla, Tabu, Huma Qureshi, Sonakshi Sinha, Sayani Gupta, Nimrat Kaur, Manisha Koirala, Rekha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Diana Penty. As per the reports, Madhuri and Juhi will be doing the cameo appearance in Bhansali’s digital debut series.
As per the recent interview of SLB, he said that while the production of the series is to begin soon, the casting for the series is still going on, as he wants to do justice to every single character in the show. He also said in the interview that, every episode of the series will be like an independent feature film.
The shooting of Heeramandi will take place soon, probably on June 1st week and it is expected that the shooting will take time of around 5-6 months to be concluded.
So we assume that Heermandi will be ready to premiere around the first quarter of the year 2023 if everything goes according to the plan. However makers are yet to be announced officially, you stay tuned on the page as we will keep you up to date on the release date information.
In August 2021 Netflix announced that they are joining hands with the ace filmmaker of Bollywood Sanjay Leela Bhansali to produce an original web series for the streaming platform.
