Billi’s Home Again!

For those that have been following along on IG, you know Billi had to have surgery this week. .⠀ A follow up ultrasound showed Billi had a small uretolith, which is a urinary stone (think kidney stone but in the tube that connects the kidney to the bladder), that was causing an obstruction of her left side. It wasn't seen on the initial scan due to gas interference from the colon, but luckily a very dedicated internist (shoutout to Dr. Foster and Dr. Wright) was concerned enough about the findings to recommend a follow up! ⠀ .⠀ The surgery is called a subcutaneous ureteral bypass (aka SUB), and it essentially creates a new tube from Billi's left kidney to her bladder in order to allow urine outflow!⠀ .⠀ Thankfully she had a rockstar team to take care of her, all the way from admittance to ER to the internal medicine service to the surgeons at Friebdship Hospital for Animals. . She sailed through recovery, and I got to take her home today! We have a lot of follow up care, but I’m hopeful 💕💕💕 .
