In this video, various approaches for frogging (when you rip-it, rip-it) and reknitting yarn are shown. Four identical swatches are knit, and three are frogged (two are frogged after washing). Yarn from one of the washed swatches is steamed to relax it. Swatches and yarn are compared at each stage. Understanding options based on the circumstances surrounding the original knitting, the yarn state following frogging, and the quantity of yarn to be used will help determine which combinations of approaches to use when reusing yarn.
