Video: © Lange Uhren The 1815 “Homage to Walter Lange” with a black dial and housed in a steel case is a one-of-a-kind wristwatch. As its name implies, this watch is a tribute to Walter Lange (1924 to 2017) who resurrected the “Lange” or “A. Lange & Söhne” watch brand on 7 December 1990, the date and year when Lange Uhren GmbH was registered. Lange Uhren is the company that owns the A. Lange & Söhne watch brand and Manufacture and Walter Lange was 66 years old when the company was registered. He is also the great-grandson of Ferdinand Adolph Lange (1815 to 1875), the founder of Lange & Cie that was established in 1845 in Glashütte, Germany. In other words, he revived the Lange brand 145 years after it was first founded. Yes, the 1815 “Homage to Walter Lange” has siblings: in white gold (limited to 145 pieces), pink gold (limited to 90 pieces) and pink gold (limited to 27 pieces), all with silver dials. However, there is just this one 1815 “Homage to Walter Lange” in steel with a black enamelled dial. The 1815 “Homage to Walter Lange” is extra special not just because it is extremely rare as a one of a kind, but because it will have a direct impact on needy children, in particular, those whose welfare depend on the Children Action Foundation, a charity that looks into the physical and mental well-being of needy children around the world. This charitable foundation, founded in 1994 by Bernard Sabrier, will be the recipient of sales proceeds arising from the auction of this 1815 “Homage to Walter Lange” on Sunday, 13 May 2018. The auction will be conducted by Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo at the La Reserve hotel in Geneva, Switzerland.
