The southern region of Afghanistan is at the centre of Taliban-led operations.

More than 1,200 people, mostly anti-government fighters, have died there so far this year.

But Afghanistan's border police are lacking basic equipment to tame the Taliban.

Al Jazeera's Teresa Bo travelled with Afghan police on patrol in the south and sent this report.
