This marks the first time
This marks the first time I've done a news open compilation for a television network, rather than a specific station. I will still be doing CFTM-DT Montreal, which should be coming out next week.
TVA was launched in 1971 as Canada's first private French-language television network. The network airs newscasts at the following timeslots:
* Noon - Two national editions exists with a western Quebec version produced in Montreal and an eastern Quebec version produced in Quebec City. Local stations opt out to local newscasts at 12:15 PM.
* 5 PM - A national evening newscast produced in Montreal.
* 6 PM - Full 30 minute local newscasts are shown on: CFTM Montreal (O&O), CFCM Quebec City (O&O), CHOT Gatineau/Ottawa (affiliate), and CFEM Rouyn-Noranda (affiliate). On the rest of the network, stations air the first ten minutes of CFTM (West) or CFCM (East) before opting out to their own local newscasts. These stations are CHLT Sherbrooke, CHEM Trois-Rivières, CFER Rimouski, CIMT Rivière-du-Loup and CHAU Carleton-sur-Mer.
* 10 PM - Considered to be the flagship newscast for TVA. This newscast runs for 30 minutes and is produced in Montreal. Although occasionally the newscast can also be produced out of Quebec City.
TVA also produces a morning show called "Salut, Bonjour!", but its technically considered to be produced by their entertainment division rather than news division.
Throughout most of it's history, TVA's newscasts have dominated over the public broadcaster Radio-Canada in Quebec. The network does not have stations outside of Quebec, however all cable and satellite companies are required to carry CFTM Montreal to service Francophones across the country.

I have updated the compilation with new videos and replaced most instances of the 6 PM newscast with the 10 PM newscast and a bunch of other changes that bring it in line with my previous newscast compilations. I have yet to find any national editions of the 1996-1997 intro so the 6 PM Montreal edition is still used here.
