Dr. Otmar Scharrer (Vice President Corporate Research and Advanced Engineering) gave an interview at the IAA Commercial Vehicles in Hannover 2018.
I think we observe a very strong impact of the regulation. In the past time there was an emphasis on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and now we are really going into regulation. The regulation asks especially one thing: efficiency. MAHLE presents three highly efficient trucks at their booth at the IAA 2018 in Hannover.
1. Truck to show the efficiency of the diesel engine with a waste heat recovery system
2. Medium-Duty Truck with hybridisation and an efficiency potential of 10-15%
3. Fuel cell truck system which is very interesting for long haul and heavy-duty trucks.
MAHLE is quite well prepared for the future with the MAHLE dual strategy.

The IAA Commercial Vehicles ("IAA Nutzfahrzeuge") in Hanover is the world's most important trade fair for transport, logistics and mobility. More than 2,000 exhibitors present the potential for more transport efficiency, more environmental protection and more safety in this dynamic key sector at the Commercial Vehicles Fair. And the realization that electromobility will go into series production in commercial vehicles. Electrification begins with small payloads , but continues through all model series and truck types up to medium distribution trucks.
