Nivram is a standard instrumental by British band The Shadows.
It was composed by three of the band members, Hank Marvin, Bruce Welch and Jet Harris.
Published on their first album in 1961, this track is the only Shadows track to have been played on a Gretch Country Gentleman guitar, instead of the famous Fender Stratocaster popularized in Europe by Hank Marvin. It's a jazzy track, quite different from the pop/rock repertoire that made the Shadows the most popular band in the world until the arrival of the Beatles.
However, it remained famous, became a standard of the genre and one of the most requested titles by fans in concert. The title is simply the name "Marvin" spelled backwards...
In addition to the original version, there are various live versions of this title (in 1969, on the album "The Shadows Live in Japan", in 1975 on the album "The Shadows Live at the Paris Olympia", in 1978 on the live album "Thank You Very Much" at the Palladium in London with Cliff Richard, or on the cd and dvd "The Shadows' Farewell Tour", recorded in 2004).
A version produced by Jeff Lynne was recorded as a duet by Hank Marvin and Mark Knopfler in 1993, on the same record as a version of another Shadows standard, Wonderful Land.
