Robert #Mitchum didn't have a stable childhood, and he had to work hard. He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on August 6, 1917, to parents who worked for a living. The turmoil and poverty that Robert Mitchum experienced throughout his life shaped him. There were three children in Robert Mitchum's household, and the family frequently had trouble making ends meet. Robert Mitchum was the second of the three children. Robert's father abandoned the family when Robert was just 14 years old, forcing the rest of the family to fend for themselves. Robert did not finish high school and immediately started doing odd jobs in order to provide for his mother and his siblings. Robert was the second of three children in a family that frequently battled to make ends meet. The family had a hard time providing for all of their needs. It was during this period that Robert discovered his love of acting. He began performing in local theater productions, and soon he was traveling the country with a theater company. Among other jobs, he worked as a ditch digger, a boxer, and a carnival barker.
