In the spring of 2002, it was announced that director Roland Emmerich's next film following The Patriot would be a sci-fi thriller for Sony's Columbia Pictures entitled Alien Prison. Scripted by the Face/Off duo of Michael Colleary and Mike Werb and rewritten by Andrew W. Marlowe — whose credits include Air Force One, End of Days, and Hollow Man —, the film follows six humans with little in common other than having been abducted, studied, and torturously experimented upon by an alien race in another solar system. After years of abuse, they plot an escape and attempt to foil a full-scale invasion of Earth. Emmerich would also produce through his Centropolis Entertainment shingle, alongside Lucy Fisher and Douglas Wick of Red Wagon Entertainment. Ultimately though, nothing ever came of the project. Follow me and ponder the question, "What if...?"
