Connecting your F-Control is very simple. With a mini USB cable, link your F-Control’s USB port to your F8 or F4. Then press the menu button on the F8 or F4. Scroll down to USB and select. Highlight the “FRC-8” option at the bottom of the menu, power on your F-Control, and then select “Connect.” You are now connected . If you do not see the “FRC-8” option, you must first update your device’s firmware.

F-Control can record arm tracks by pressing one of the numbered buttons on each channel strip. You can select Pre-Fader Listen, adjust the trim or pan, and adjust track volume using the 60mm faders. You can also switch between trim and pan functions using the Trim-Pan button above the master fader. The master fader can control the volume of the Headphone, Main, or Sub outputs. To select your desired output, use the Output button above the master meters.

F-Control features a Menu button and menu control knob which allow you to navigate the F8 or F4 menu functions with ease.  The transport section allows for easy control over recording and playback.

F-Control features a quarter-inch headphone jack that connects to the headphone jack of your F8 or F4 with an included TRS cable. This allows you to use F-Control to monitor audio with zero latency.  F-Control also features a headphone volume knob for adjustment.

F-Control gives you the option to assign 3 “user keys” for quick shortcuts. On your F8 or F4, access the FRC-8 menu. Highlight “User Key” and select. Select the desired user key, and choose the desired functionality. You can now quickly access this function using your F-Control user key.

Below the user keys, you have additional hot keys:
Scene Increment advances the current scene by one increment.
Scene Name allows you to change the name of the upcoming scene.
Note allows you to add metadata notes.
Track Name adjusts the track name.
False lets you move the previously recorded take to the false take folder.
Time Code opens the time code settings menu.

You can connect a standard USB keyboard which can be used to write scene names, track names, and notes.

F-Control can be powered with four AA batteries for up to 9 hours of operation. You can also use the 4-pin HIROSE connector with an external battery pack. If you’re using F-Control with an F4, there’s also a USB bus power option available.
