1: Using Mnemonic Flashcards
This is a  very powerful tool to make letters stick faster and, most importantly, for good. In this video you'll discover why using mnemonic alphabet flashcards can make a huge difference, and how to use them properly.
2. Using Symbols and Arrows Underneath Words
Symbols and arrows under words provide visual and tactile cues for reading. They help in understanding the number of sounds in a word and the direction of reading. Adding a kinetic element to reading enhances the learning experience.
3. Good quality literacy apps
They can play a crucial role in "blended learning". Look for an app that aligns with phonics principles and provides engaging learning experiences for children. In the video, I name my two favorite literacy apps at the time of recording.
4. Continuous Blending
This is what I call the "hold the sound" technique. This can be a real game-changer for children who do know their sounds, but get all confused when they have to go ahead and blend them to read words.
5. Sight word instruction following phonics principles
Sight word instruction is normally disconnected from phonics instruction. Aligning sight word instruction with phonics principles leads to better understanding and retention
