I recorded this ride on the same day as the previous videos about TGV 9576...yes, I went from Munich to Barcelona in one day. I think you can already sense, which kind of videos will be released next on my channel.
The TGV 9715 is one of four daily trains, which cross the border from France to Spain, so one of two per direction. But Renfe began offering AVE-services from Lyon and Marseille into Spain this summer, more connections will follow.
Starting from Paris Gare de Lyon, the large terminus in the southeast of the city, the train first takes the high speed railway into the south of France. Before Avignon it branches off to another high speed railway, which was opened in 2018 to bypass the cities of Montpellier and Nîmes. The TGV only stops at it´s own stations, which are located outside the cities. Anyone who wants to go into these cities, has to chance to public transit. But before Sète this high speed railway ends and the TGV has to overcome the journey on conventional railway until Perpignan...with up to 160 km/h after all. There you can sometimes catch a glimpse of the Mediterranean Sea. After leaving Perpignan another high speed rail begins, which is connected to the spanish network. By travelling again up to 300 km/h the train pulls out the last 200 km to Barcelona very quick.
Due to an unknown disruption the train left Paris nearly 20 minutes delayed, furthermore the train went the other way around than expected...I really felt like being back home in Germany at that point. But until Perpignan the train managed to obliterate the delay.
