Egypt Navy Submarine S42 (864) transits Germany's Kiel Canal

The new Egyptian Navy Type 209 submarine S42 (864) is on its way from the shipbuilder in Kiel, Germany to the naval base in Alexandria, Egypt. On its way it had to transit through Kiel Canal which links the North Sea and Baltic Sea. S42 has been built by German shipbuilder Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems in Kiel and is the second of four submarines ordered by Egypt.

Das ägyptische U-Boot "S 42" am 01. Oktober 2017 im Nord-Ostsee-Kanal auf dem Weg von Kiel nach Alexandria. Die S42 (864) ist das zweite von insgesamt vier U-Booten der Typklasse 209/1400, die Ägypten durch die Kieler Bauwerft Thyssen Krupp Marine Systems bauen lässt. Die Aufnahmen im NOK entstanden in Höhe der Autobahnbrücke A23.
